What's broken today

Asset tracking that doesn't fit the way fleets actually run.

01
“Who’s driving Truck 17 this week?”

Most tools collapse driver assignment into a single text field. Shift rotation and crew-served assets break it the moment you have a second driver, an AM/PM split, or a bucket truck with a three-person crew.

02
Locked into one telematics vendor.

Samsara, Motive, and Verizon Connect bundle hardware into 3-year contracts — even if you only need GPS on 20% of your fleet. The cost-to-coverage math rarely works for mixed equipment shops.

03
The GPS device is a hidden config.

Competitors bury the hardware as a checkbox on the asset record. Ours is a tenant-owned asset with its own status, history, and 1:1 link to the vehicle — enforced at the database, not the UI.

What's behind it

Six pieces, one asset record.

Each capability is its own table in the product — not a checkbox on a vehicle row. Built so coverage and assignment can be reasoned about independently.

Asset register
Vehicles, trailers, and equipment in one list. Custom fields, asset types, and statuses (Active / Inactive / Disposed).
Asset assignments
Three roles (Primary / Secondary / Crew), optional AM/PM/Day/Night shift bands, multiple concurrent assignments for team driving and shift rotation.
Real-Time Units
Physical GPS / telematics hardware as a first-class entity. Tenant-owned. 1:1 link to an asset with database-level enforcement against double-assignment.
Location mapping
Geocoded customer and vendor addresses. “Nearest customer to this asset” haversine lookup for dispatch and route planning.
Coverage dashboard
KPI strip, role mix, coverage timeseries, and a “missing primary driver” panel so gaps show up before dispatch goes sideways.
Telematics passthrough
Roadmap · Q3 2026
Ingest Geotab, Samsara, or Motive position data via passthrough integration. Bring your existing hardware — keep your existing contracts.

Three roles, optional shift bands, multiple concurrent assignments.

One field for “driver” stops working the moment your fleet has rotation, ride-alongs, or crew-served assets. Ours doesn't pretend otherwise.

  • Reefer tractor with team drivers — two Primary drivers on opposite shifts, no conflict, no overlap to babysit.
  • Bucket truck with a 3-person line crew — one Primary, two Crew. No competitor models crew as a role.
  • 24/7 haul truck with AM / PM rotation — shift bands attach to the assignment, not the driver, so the same person can drive different shifts on different assets.
  • Coverage dashboard surfaces assets without a Primary driver before dispatch hits “send.”

Hardware-optional by design.

Let the hardware footprint match the actual operational need — not a sales contract.

  • Start with zero hardware. Maintenance, fuel, renewals, work orders, and reports all work fine on the register alone.
  • Add real-time GPS where it pays off. Buy our purpose-built Real-Time Units (US only) and link them 1:1 to specific assets.
  • Pay per unit, month to month. No 3-year contract, no minimum commitment, no per-asset floor.
  • Skip GPS on assets that don't need it. Yard-bound trailers, parked attachments, idle gensets — register them and move on.
  • Most competitors force a fleet-wide contract with a 3-year minimum. We let you cover 20% of your fleet and stop there.

Use cases

Three fleets, three ways of using it.

Last-mile delivery
Regional last-mile carrier — 80 vans, 12 rotating drivers.
Driver assignments rotate weekly with AM/PM splits. The Coverage dashboard surfaces any van without a Primary driver before the morning standup.
Fleet · 80 vans Hardware · FS365 RTUs (subset) Setup · < 1 day
Municipal · 24/7
Municipal snowplow fleet — 24/7 winter ops.
Crew rotation patterns and shift bands keep dispatch honest. Real-Time Units link cleanly to assets, so a swapped device doesn't erase the asset's history.
Fleet · 34 plows Hardware · FS365 GPS Crew model · AM / PM / Night
Equipment rental
Equipment rental shop — 200 pieces of yellow iron, 4 yards.
No GPS on any of it. Just the asset register and customer location mapping — the “nearest customer to this asset” lookup picks the delivery yard automatically.

FAQ

Questions we hear a lot.

Do I need GPS hardware to use Fleet Service 365?
No. The asset register, assignments, customer location mapping, and coverage dashboard all work without a single device attached. Hardware is opt-in, asset-by-asset — buy it where it pays off, skip it where it doesn't.
Can I bring my existing Samsara, Geotab, or Motive devices?
Telematics passthrough is on the Q3 2026 roadmap. When it ships, we'll ingest position and event data from those providers via their published APIs, with no requirement to swap hardware. Today, you can still register those assets in FS365 — you just won't see live position data until the integration is live.
What does “real-time” mean — and is it US-only?
Real-Time Units are our optional FS365-branded GPS devices, available in the US today. Position refresh is configurable per device, typically 30–60 seconds while moving and on a slower cadence at rest. Outside the US, use FS365 without hardware, or bring your own telematics once passthrough ships.
How does asset assignment work for trucks with multiple drivers?
Each asset can carry multiple concurrent assignments. The three roles are Primary (the responsible driver), Secondary (ride-along, relief, or backup), and Crew (for crew-served assets like bucket trucks and ambulances). Each assignment can carry an optional shift band — AM, PM, Day, or Night — so a team-driven tractor can have two Primary drivers on opposite shifts without conflict.
Can I track non-vehicle assets like trailers and generators?
Yes. The asset register doesn't care whether the asset has an engine. Trailers, gensets, light towers, attachments, and yellow iron all live in the same list, with their own asset types, custom fields, and statuses.
What if I outgrow this — can I upgrade to hardware later?
Yes. Real-Time Units are tenant-owned and independently registered, so you can buy a device, link it 1:1 to an existing asset, and the asset's history (assignments, customer locations, maintenance) stays intact. No re-onboarding.
Is my fleet data exportable if I leave?
Yes. CSV export on every list view, full-database export on Pro and Enterprise plans, and a self-hosted option on Enterprise if you need the data to live on your own infrastructure.
